some sublime athmospheric techno tracks that go somewhere between dubstep, detroit techno and broken beat / garage. roof light did an excellent job on this 4 track ep with tracks that are light but full of emotion and athmosphere. radiance is for sure one of the high lights with its minimal funky bass line and cut up beats and massive strings layered on top. around here is the main track with its 90s two step rhythm and its deep athmospheric sounds and vocals. ltj bukem goes dubstep? not sure who is the producer... but if its a debut its pretty impressive. great release! must have for all the martyn and 2562 fans!

rogue state ? logical regression - another meaty slab of rogues own niche influenced dubstep style, this track was influenced by the mighty ltj bukem. rogue is on top form here with depth and emotion created through the synthy intro whilst the tearout drop will get anyone moving. twisted ? infect - hailing from germany and part of the dutty dubs crew, twisted is starting to make real impact on the international scene. the super slick mixdown is what first attracted us to him but it was this phenomenally heavy weight track that made us decide to release twisted. bass face time!

joss moog drops his 1st solo ep on minority after having successful previous outings on robsoul. fat mamma is a jacked up chicago track that will be doing the rounds with the likes of derrick carter & mark farina. rhodes trip is armed with deep chords and slick beats and is reminiscent of room 25. everything inside has all the right ingredients to kick start a party, tough beats, smooth vocal stabs and a killer bass line. joss finishes the ep off in style with a big jazz bass line, groovy keys and a hypnotic sax that would work the dance floor at any time of the night.

absolute madness from immerse here, as october is released from his minimal techno day centre to wreak havoc amongst the dubsteppers. elephants is a pretty appropriate name for the a, as bongo loops and ominuous machine noises are summarily flattened by the phasing bass crunch and trumpeting midrange. add a dash of running breakbeat to the mix and you have a strange yet effective dancefloor worrier. flipside, medium opts for broken techno stylings, simmering pads and clattering percussion setting the scene for the tense main event. 8/10 recommended review by diccon c/o idjmagazine

the talents of japanese orchestral arranger yukari yamashita are present once more to pen an orchestral arrangement of symphonic cinematic proportion with a hint of baroque flavour, within a subtle eastern twist. and if then add their special blend of slamming beats, sonics and out there fx. a hypnotic pizzicato line develops into a full blown orchestral melody, whilst three dimensional sounds seamlessly elevate the listeners spirit whereas the bass and beats keep your feet firmly grooving on the ground.

its been a while since the last rsb release, but then tracks like this dont come along every day! for their first vinyl appearance on a label other than their own, enigmatic german duo ancient methods do the honourable thing and break out the whip, a track that comes across like a 2-step party in the foundry of thor himself. lets lazily label it anvil techno, because as far as we are aware no has yet invented a genre that adequately desribes music such as this. and as we have come to expect, much the same can be said of the evil sickness that is eat like hawks by bjorn svin (with a little help from karsten pflum, jona olesen & copyflex!). it starts like it means to go on, with a gnarled loop and indecipherable distorted vocals, and is gradually tweaked and augmented to the point of destruction. all manner of ill bass, overdriven filters, zaps, clanky drums & feedback join the party before the whole affair is brought to an abrupt end by the strange foreign lady that we have come to know and love over the course of the track. truly music for small, sweaty, strobe-driven cellars.
